The packaging firm, which swelled from £6.5 to £7m turnover last year, has just completed its latest financial year at £9m in sales.

The new machines – chief among them a brand-new Fengchi High-Speed Laminator GW-1450L, and a Sanwa Axia die-cutter ordered in April – will help to back up this strong growth, said sales director Matt Seaford.

He told Printweek: “It’s been quite the couple of years’ growth for us. It’s been really positive, and we seem to be getting a good vibe from our current customers, some of them have been growing and doing well.

“We’ve been fortunate, too, with quite a few recommendations, and customers taking us with them when they move into new roles. It’s fantastic that people want to carry on working with us in their new job, and it makes it a hell of a lot easier for a salesperson like me!”

The new Fengchi laminator was installed with the Sanwa at the end of September, arriving just one day before the die-cutter.

The laminator, capable of 10,000sph, has allowed the firm to mount paper to board for the first time, allowing MRP to widen its product offering while achieving better production speeds.

The Sanwa itself can run at 8,000sph, die-cutting and blanking solid and corrugated boards.

Kate Tew, MRP’s marketing director, said: ”We believe the addition of both of these machines will offer far greater options to our existing clients, improve turnaround times and also open up new markets.

“Going forward, we foresee huge growth in this area with our clients looking for environmentally friendly options and moving away from plastic.”

MRP likewise took delivery of two packers for its Vega gluers to help to clear production bottlenecks at the end of the line.

MRP employs 70 at its Nottingham site.
